What we look for in a Tram Driver (LRV)

You don’t need to have any tram driving experience to apply for this role but you will need to show real customer focus with strong emphasis on providing a safe, reliable and punctual tram service. Being a tram driver is not for everyone and it is not your standard 9 to 5 job. We encourage that you familiarise yourself with the content of this advert.

We are committed to professional development and in addition to this, all our trainees undergo intense training programme (7 weeks) which includes practical examinations, written exams and simulator training.

Minimum Requirements

  • You must not have defective colour vision
  • You must be willing to work irregular and unsociable shift patterns which will include nights, weekends & bank holidays
  • You must be in a possession of a valid driving licence, with more than 3 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points and no live driving offenses.
  • You must live within a 60 minute commutable distance from both Manchester depot at Queens Road (M8 0RY) and the Trafford depot (M16 9AL)
  • The role is physically demanding and requires you to be fit with good upper body strength. You will have to climb into the vehicle (which includes pulling yourself up) from ground level to 1.25m (approximately) and you must be able to manually use a lever to operate points.
  • You must have knowledge of the Metrolink network

In the event that your application is successful you will be invited to attend a psychometric testing session on either 26 April 2021 or 27 April 2021. Final assessment centre is scheduled to take place on 04 May 2021 or 05 May 2021.
